This photo is a perfect example of our modern style from our Knoxville headshot photography portfolio. For this particular image, we opted for a dark blue backdrop. Darker backdrops are ideal for those with lighter skin tones, whereas lighter backdrops are equally ideal for those with darker skin tones. Of course, this depends on the "look" and "feel" you are looking to achieve.
When using darker or lighter backdrops, clothing choice must be taken into consideration. An example of this would be a black suit on a black backdrop and a white dress on a white backdrop. To ensure the subject doesn't "blend" into the backdrop, separation lighting must be used to "highlight" the edges of the subject, thus helping her or him stand out.
